| DINING AT HOOGEKRAAL |
|

|
The Dining Room and Supper Room each have their own warm charm, the one with Georgian decor, old crystal chandeliers, historic armoires and traditional old furniture, while the Supper Room, decorated with French bronzes and original Napoleonic pieces, overlooks the ocean and the distant lights of Mossel Bay. Fine silver and quality porcelain are set-off by the soft light of many candles.
The hosts have traveled in numerous countries of the world, and also have lived in England, USA, Germany, China, Greece, Hong Kong and Canada. Their professional
backgrounds, their travels and post graduate studies in America have exposed them over many decades to international standards of hosting and cooking.

Organically Produced Foods
Hoogekraal offers organically produced foods, and maintains its own herd of Beef cattle, all pasture fed without any additives or non-pasture feed. In addition, fish and seafoods are taken from
local catches in the Bay.
The dinner parties are widely known, both locally and abroad. The owners host the evening meals, and frequently are asked to tell the fascinating history and anecdotes of famous visitors to Hoogekraal, such as the Prince Imperial of France in 1879, the Empress Eugene after the Prince's death, artists, musicians, writers, concert pianists, cartographers, politicians etc. |

For dinner each evening, two home-made soups are offered, a fresh starter, two meat dishes or fish and a roast, a large variety of vegetables freshly picked, two desserts, port, brandy and coffee or tea. The selected house-wines are included with the dinner.
Travelers lodging at well-known hotels in the area also frequently request dinner at Hoogekraal for their special occasions.
In the morning a full breakfast is offered, including fresh juices, home-made preserves and jams, cereals and Hoogekraal museli, breads, toast, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, etc. Good coffee and teas are served. |
